The children in Reception have been finding out about where milk comes from. We used our new chopping skills to prepare fruit smoothies and a healthy breakfast pot.
In Year 1, in Food Technology, we have been learning about fruit. We made healthy mango & banana muffins as well as raisin flapjack.
THE NIGHT PIRATES
We have rewritten part of the story ‘The Night Pirates’. We made up actions and symbols to help us to perform the story. We also shared our stories with Green Class, who gave us some fabulous feedback on our writing ability.
Cycling instructors came into school to teach us how to ride balance bikes. These skills will help us to be more confident on our bikes at home by building up our core stability. This was fun!
Reception children have been looking at and using different technology including: taking photographs with a digital camera, speaking into a microphone and using a ‘2 paint’ programme on the laptop.
OUR WEATHER TOPIC
Miss Athorn came into Red Class for the morning to show us how to use a professional weather station. We compared it to our home made weather vane and rain gauge. We collected and analysed data with it.
Superhero day was a way to end our topic. We worked as teams completing superhero missions and building superhero dens. The dens had secret doors and passageways; we made signs and symbols to go with our dens. We had a fab time!
ON GROUNDS DAY:
We went on a scavenger hunt around the grounds and investigated what we had found using magnifying glasses, we matched items we found to pictures, we practised drawing them and writing their name. We also:
explored in the mud kitchen;
created a sensory farm yard using a range of cereals;
played with water;
built dens for woodland creatures and insects;
planted seeds and flowers.
We had so much fun learning outdoors all day.
