At the last After School Sports Club at Queens Park before the Christmas break, the children along with Mrs Wright and Mrs Hemsley, enjoyed a Christmas ‘Smash Up’! This involved being festively dressed, playing various mini badminton games while dancing to some well-known Christmas tunes. Merry Christmas everyone. The next club is on the first day back in the New Year – Thursday 4th January.
On Tuesday 21st November, our newly recruited Bronze Ambassadors (comprising of Health, Sport, Travel and Media), had a fantastic day at the E.I.S in Sheffield to learn about their new roles. The day started with an inspirational talk from ex-England volleyball captain Ben Pipes. Following this, the children split up into their groups and spent the day taking part in a variety of workshops. The overall consensus was it was an amazing day. All of the children were a credit to themselves and the school and Mrs Wright and Mrs Hemsley can’t wait to start working with them in order to make the school as healthy and active as possible.
Mid November and the Y5/Y6 football team headed to Shirebrook to take part in the Small Schools County Final. Despite not having the opportunity to play together so far this year, the team pulled together well and their teamwork and performance improved as the afternoon went on. Well done everyone on a fantastic effort.
At the beginning of November, all of Diamond Class took part in the Y5/Y6 cross country event at Mount St Marys. The distance ran was 1.2km for Y5 and 1.5km for Y6. All of the children were absolute super stars… they took on the advice given to them and paced their runs well, leaving enough for a little sprint at the end. We were awarded Spirit of the Games for our positive attitude and also Jasmine received a medal for her fantastic second place. Well done to everyone!
