In late October, we built micro theme parks for the woodland creatures. The worms and woodlice seemed to like the tunnels the best, and there was a shield beetle on the trampoline!
At our Forest School session just before half term, we heard the story of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec god of learning, who brought chocolate to the Earth. We made pictures of him with clay on trees, and with natural materials. We acted out part of the legend on a rope bridge! We made fire to make cocoa; some of us were brave enough to try it with chilli!
On Friday 12th October, Sapphire Class took to the apparatus to demonstrate their balance work. The children were challenged to do 2 to 4 point balances using the large frame and also a range of balances using the lower apparatus.
In September, the Chocolate Man came to teach us all about chocolate. Where does it come from? What do we do with it? Is it good for us? We worked in teams to design and make chocolate pizzas. There were prizes for good listening, thinking and teamwork.
