The Y6 children spent the morning making Christmas wreaths with Mrs France and Mrs Hemsley. The children produced fantastic arrangements using holly, berries, pine cones, cinnamon and dried oranges. Thank you so much to Mrs France for giving us her time this morning and also to those who brought in resources from home; the results were superb.
This term, the Y6 children have been looking at the topic of Africa. Throughout the term, the children have written a range of texts, completed maths and sewing linked to the South African flag and produced Batik inspired artwork. All of their hard work culminated in a class assembly for parents and a class exhibition of their homework projects, which they have been working on since September. The children have loved the topic and should be really proud of the work that they have produced.
Green and Purple Classes were treated to an extra afternoon of sport when ex professional athlete Becky Lynne ran some multi-skills sessions. Purple Class took part in uni-hoc, football, netball and athletic activities. It didn’t take long for the competitiveness to kick in!
Purple Class have enjoyed rugby coaching sessions with Jack and other coaches from Rugger Eds. Each week, the children have been developing their throwing, catching, attacking and defensive skills – leading up to the full game of Tag Rugby. Despite the inclement weather, all children have enjoyed the sessions and the improvement seen has been phenomenal.
